The physical therapists at Poulin Performance provide services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or chronic disease.
When you become a patient at Poulin Performance your physical therapy experience and outcome is crucial to us. Our physical therapy programs are rooted in the philosophy that every body is unique and your injuries are as unique as you are! Our easy to follow exercise programs that are taught to our patients are ones that they can perform at home to expedite recovery time and remain healthy and functional. It is our goal to educate our patients to become independent with their home exercise program as quickly and safely as possible.
Poulin Performance was the first certified postural restoration center in Vermont and continues to be the leaders in this specialized field. Jennifer Poulin, PT PRC has been on Faculty at the Postural Restortaion Insitute since 2010. She currently is a course instructor for "Myokinematic Restoration" and will begin training to teach Postural Restoration and Pelvic Floor Integration. Jennifer has also served on the Insitute's certification review committee since 2008. Our postural restoration approach allows us to identify and fix postural imbalances that are causing faulty movement patterns that lead to injury. By going after the root of the problem it allows us to break many years of bad habits and create good ones. It is our appreciation that the human body is not created symmetrically and therefore cannot be treated as such.
We know that because the diaphragm is bigger on the right side of our body this leads to compensation early in development. This is why we encourage our pediatricians to refer sooner rather than later for postural restoration work on kids. It is also commonly understood that the left hemisphere of our brain is dominant over the right in humans and therefore postural asymmetry is inevitable. We are always cognizant that a poorly aligned body can wreak havoc in many different systems and how these systems must be balanced. This may include the referral to other specialists in optometry, dentistry, orthodontics and podiatry. We are fortunate to have several like-minded professionals that understand how the human body functions when out of balance and who can help us treat our patients in a complete manner when necessary.
Many of our patients are competitive athletes or simply want to remain physically fit. This is why we use our expertise to train our athletic population in a functional manner using a variety of treatment modalities. Our post surgical and rehabilitation protocols are evidenced based and focus on making sure our athletic population return to their respective activities feeling stronger and safer than they were pre-injury. Whether you are a professional athlete, college athlete, high school athlete or simply enjoy fitness training we will ensure you that your rehabilitation process will encompass the many different aspects of your activity. This sometimes includes cardiovascular strength training, balance training, core strengthening and being able to function well in our three dimensional world.
Our facility boasts the latest in rehab technology to guarantee you the most thorough rehabilitation process.
